Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Blanks Kings 5-0 In Conference Opener
 
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes women's ice hockey shut out King's College 5-0 in their conference opener Friday evening at the Revolution Ice Centre.

After tonight's win, Wilkes improves to 2-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference as Kings falls to 0-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference.

Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON/) opened the scoring for Wilkes as she found the back of the net only four minutes into the match. The Colonels continued to put the pressure on the Monarchs, outshooting them 41-1 with 25 of those on goal, but Kings held to just one goal at the end of the first period.

Wilkes never slowed going into the second period as Abby Bush (Ottawa, ON) fired in a goal at the third minute to make it 2-0. The Colonels kept the goals coming in quick succession as Nina Hudakova (Košice, Slovakia/Hoosac Prep School) scored on a power-play, Chayce Hyndman (Mountain, ON/) found the back of the net, and Renee Ng (Hong Kong, China/Mount Academy) fired in her first goal of the season all to make it 5-0 going into the third. 

Wilkes fired a flurry of shots in the third period, outshooting the Monarchs 34-4 with 16 of those on goal, but the Monarch's backline held Wilkes scoreless to the end. The Colonels put up 118 shots with 66 on goal compared to Kings' nine shots and four on goal at the end of the night.

Ng led the Colonels with 16 shots, one goal, and finishing +1. Hannah Franz (North Bay, ON/) led in assists with two and finishing +2 while Gianna Pacilio (Franklinville, NJ/) went 9-12 on the night in faceoffs. Audrey Milne (London, ON) got the shutout with four saves in the match. 

Abby Barlocker, Emma Heinrich, and Amanda Sokol all recorded two shots with one on goal for the night. Goalie Hayley Packer was given the decision playing the first 40 minutes making 31 saves and allowing five goals, as Will McPherson played the final period making 30 saves.

The Colonels and Monarchs close out their series tomorrow at the Revolution Ice Centre at 3:00 p.m.
