WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes women's ice hockey completed a weekend sweep over King's College with a 5-0 shutout over the Monarchs this afternoon.

After tonight's match, the Colonels improve to 3-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference, while Kings falls to 0-4-0 overall and 0-2-2 in conference.

Megan Bell (Waterloo, ON/St. David Catholic) opened the scoring for Wilkes with a power-play point after she connected with a pass from Jordan Ferry (Bohemia, NY/) to push the Colonels to 1-0 six minutes into the first period. Kings was able to hold that score going into the second, but Gianna Pacilio (Franklinville, NJ/) found the back of the net (4:21) with an assist from Renee Ng (Hong Kong, China/Mount Academy). Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON/) added a goal at the 17th minute to push Wilkes to a 3-0 lead going into the final period. The Monarchs defense held the score steady after enduring a flurry of shots from the Colonels, but Wilkes fired in two quick succession goals from Nina Hudakova (Košice, Slovakia/Hoosac Prep School) (18:46) and Renee Ng (Hong Kong, China/Mount Academy) (19:26.8) to finalize the game 5-0. 

Wilkes outshot the Monarchs 74-6 with 64 of those on target. Bell led for Wilkes recording 12 shots in the game, one goal, and assist while finishing +2. Pacilio led in the face off circle going 18-22, and Olivia Linderberg followed close behind going 10-13. Audrey Milne (London, ON) got the decision with 53 minutes on the game recording six saves, and Emily Connell (Berwick, NS) finished the final three minutes for Wilkes. 

Sammi Stead and Jared Tietz led for King's with two shots each. Will McPherson played the full 60 minutes for the Monarchs and recorded 64 saves while allowing five goals. 

The Colonels return to the Toyota Sportsplex for their home opener against Lebanon Valley College on Friday, November 14, with puck drop set for 2:00 p.m.
