Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Falls in Season Opener at Ramapo
MAHWAH, NJ – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team dropped its season opening contest at host Ramapo College 13-2 Wednesday afternoon at Ramapo's Athletic Center Turf Field.
Ramapo jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the half, then used an eight-goal third quarter to take a commanding 12-0 after 45 minutes of play.
Brooklyn Pedana (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area) put the Colonels on the board with 7:22 left in the fourth quarter. Pedana then added Wilkes' second tally just over a minute later to conlcude the Colonels scoring in the game.
Brooklynn Donia (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) finished with seven saves in goal for Wilkes. Ramapo held a 26-10 shot advantage while collecting 11 draw controls to Wilkes' six.
Taylor Sparks (Monroeville, NJ/Woodstown) claimed four of Wilkes' six draw controls. The Colonels finished an efficient 7-for-8 on clearing attempts in the contest.
Wilkes continues its opening season road stretch on Saturday when the Colonels travel to Mount Saint Mary College (NY) for a non-conference contest scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
