Four from Wilkes Men's Wrestling Medal at Mideast Futures Tournament
EWING, N.J. – Wilkes University men's wrestling saw four athletes medal at the Mideast Futures Tournament hosted by TCNJ on Saturday.
The end of the season tournament primarily for wrestlers not competing at the NCAA Regional features participants from 12 institutions. Wilkes as a team finished fifth with 42.5 points.

Heavyweight
Trevor Gitski (Alburtis, PA/Emmaus) was the best finisher of the day for Wilkes, finishing second in the tournament he won in 2024 with a 3-1 record on the day. He opened the day with a 2-2 decision over TCNJ's Jake Tulli in the Round of 16 and pinned Millersville's Kurt Scheuerman in 6:12 to advance to the semifinals. Gitski won his second decision of the day 8-3 over Edgar Lagos of Marymount in the semis, but was bested in the finals by Elizabethtown's Jimmy Yeingst.
Ben Grater (Saddle Brooke, NJ/Saddle Brook) finished third for the Colonels at 141 pounds, going 4-1 on the day. Grater opened with a technical fall over McDaniel's Ethyn Ramey in the Round of 32 and followed it up in the Round of 16 with a :58 second pinfall over Muhlenberg's Joe Lenio. Grater picked up a 10-6 decision over Daniel Carrozza of Gettysburg in the quarterfinals but fell to Millersville's Aidan Micheli in the semifinals by a 9-4 decision. In the third-place match, Grater bested Gettysburg's Torey Falkinburg 4-2 to pick up the decision win and third place.
Jacob Bettencourt (Dighton, MA/Bristol Plymouth) finished fourth at 149 pounds, going 2-2 in his matches. He opened with a pinfall victory over TCNJ's Gavin Rucci in 6:42 and scored another in the quarterfinals over Jason Dubrasky of Gettysburg in 1:22. In the semifinals, Bettencourt fell in a narrow 8-7 decision over Stevenson's George Pavis and fell in the third-place bout by major decision against Millersville's Elias Smith.
Conner Sklavounos (Township of Washington, NJ/Westwood Regional) also finished fourth at 157 pounds, going 2-2. Sklavounos opened his day with a 15-13 decision over TCNJ's Mike Meissner and won another decision 18-13 over Johnny Mauer of Elizabethtown. He was pinned by Stevenson's Tyler Roe in the semifinals and lost the third-place match by technical fall to Gettysburg's Joe Dietz.
The Colonels return to the mat next weekend for the NCAA Region 2 Qualifiers hosted by Lycoming College on March 1-2. Action begins at 10:00 a.m.
