Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Defeats Lebanon Valley 3-1
WILKES-BARRE - The Wilkes women's hockey team defeated Lebanon Valley this afternoon 3-1 in their third meeting of the season.
The Flying Dutchmen were the first to find the back of the net, with Jess Dawe scoring for Lebanon Valley in the first period. Dawe's goal was assisted by Leela Nemani. The Colonels responded later in the first with an unassisted goal by Chayce Hyndman (Mountain, ON). Wilkes added two more goals, one in the second period and one in the third, scored by Rachel Morey (Clearmont, WY) and Gianna Pacilio (Franklinville, NJ). Nina Hudakova picked up an assist while Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON) tallied two.
Bella Kaczorowski (Anchorage, AK/NAHA White) and Lily Zingaro (Collingwood, ON) led the team in total shots, both recording six throughout the game. Iida Laitinen (Jyväskylä, Finland) followed with five total shots. Bouchard totaled two blocked shots while Laitnen, Savanna Maxon (Anchorage, AK/Alaska All-Stars), Hannah Franz (North Bay, ON) and Ainsley Wescott (Saco, ME/) each recorded one. Pacilio led in plus minus at a plus two as well as in the face off circle, going 8-17. In goal, Audrey Milne (London, ON) recorded 16 saves for a .941 save percentage.
The Colonels will be on the road at King's for their next game on Friday, February 14. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
