Big Second Half Leads Moravian Over Wilkes Men's Lacrosse
EDWARDSVILLE – Leading by one at the half, visiting Moravian University outscored the Wilkes University men's lacrosse team 15-4 over the final 30 minutes on way to a 21-9 Landmark Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.
With the home defeat, Wilkes fell to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in league games. Moravian improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in conference contests.
Moravian scored the game's first two goals before three consecutive tallies from the Colonels gave the hosts its first lead of the afternoon.

Anthony DelDuca (Westchester, NY/Westlake) just under one minute later tying the game at two. DelDuca then called his own number firing in a shot past the Greyhounds goalie with 4:03 on the clock to give the Colonels a 3-2 lead at the end of one.
A. Sosnovik pushed the advantage to 4-2 with a helper from DelDuca early in the second quarter. Moravian answered back with two straight goals tying the game at four with just under five minutes left in the half before
Tim Hartka (Phoenix, MD/Calvert Hall) fired in his first of the game with a nice pass from
Jackson Casper (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) to give the Colonels a 5-4 advantage with 2:40 on the first half clock. Moravian responded with two goals in the final two minutes to take a 6-5 lead at the break.
The Greyhounds then broke the game open in the third quarter with nine goals. Wilkes was slowed offensively in the frame scoring just twice on DelDuca's and Hartka's second each.
Six more tallies in the final quarter pushed the visitors ahead for good on way to the road conference victory. A. Sosnovik scored his third of the game and Hartka completed his hat trick in the final frame for Wilkes.
Moravian held a 54-23 shot advantage while causing 28 Wilkes turnovers. Wilkes finished 17-for-24 in clearing attempts while Moravian won 24-of-34 face offs.
The Greyhounds were also successful on the man advantage going 3-for-4 on Wilkes penalties.
Caleb Miller (Mohrsville, PA/Schuylkill Valley) finished with 19 saves in net for Wilkes.
Wilkes travels to Mount Saint Mary College (NY) Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference contest in Newburgh, NY.
