Wilkes Women's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to Division II East Stroudsburg
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Division II East Stroudsburg University Thursday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
Wilkes dropped its second straight dual match falling to 6-2 overall on the season. ESU improved to 9-4 overall on the year.
ESU took two of three in doubles play to earn the team point.
Isabel Schreffler (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) and
Julia Spaeth (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg Area) won 6-4 at No. 3 pairs for the Colonels lone win.
ESU then took five of six in singles play to earn the non-conference road victory.
Ava Vacula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area Secondary Center) earned Wilkes' lone singles win besting Maya Jackson 7-5, 6-2 at No. 6.
The Colonels are back in action Sunday with a dual match against cross-town rival King's College scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
