Wilkes Women's Tennis Loses Tough 4-3 Decision at King's
EDWARDSVILLE – After taking a 1-0 lead after doubles play, the Wilkes University women's tennis team dropped four of six singles matches falling 4-3 to host King's College in a non-conference dual match Sunday afternoon at the Kirby Park Courts.
Wilkes saw its overall mark fall to 6-4 on the season following the defeat.
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) and
Sydney Farmer (Lacey Township, NJ/Lacey Township) won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles followed by a victory from
Julia Spaeth (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg Area) and
Isabel Schreffler (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) at No. 3 6-2 to take the team points and a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
King's then proceeded to take four of six in singles competition to secure the win. Amerise won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 and Farmer earned a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 victory at No. 5 to account for the Colonels two wins in singles play.
Wilkes returns to Landmark Conference play Wednesday when the Colonels travel to Drew University for a match starting at 4:30 p.m.
