Wilkes Men's Lacrosse Upended at Virginia Wesleyan on Spring Break Trip
 
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Host Virginia Wesleyan University took a 13-1 lead after three quarters on way to a 14-2 non-conference victory over the Wilkes University men's lacrosse team Wednesday night.
 
Wilkes slipped to 1-3 overall on the season while Virginia Wesleyan improved to 2-3 overall on the year following the home win.
 
Virginia Wesleyan raced out to a 2-0 lead after one period only to see it cut in half by an unassisted goal from Wilkes' Oscar Cline (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) with 13:36 left in the second quarter.
 
The Marlins then scored five unanswered goals over the final 13 minutes of the second to take a 7-1 advantage into the halftime break.
 
The offensive attack continued for Virginia Wesleyan who notched seven more goals over the third and fourth quarters of play. Wilkes final goal of the game came with 2:11 left in the contest as Jackson Casper (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) scored unassisted for the Colonels.
 
Virginia Wesleyan held a 50-26 shot advantage while converting 27-of-28 clearing attempts. Wilkes was unable to cash in on the man-up situation finishing 0-for-9.
 
Caleb Miller (Mohrsville, PA/Schuylkill Valley) played three quarter in goal finishing with 13 saves. Nicholas DeVitis (Conshohocken, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) played the fourth making two stops.
 
Wilkes returns home to host non-conference foe Lebanon Valley College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Schmidt Stadium.
