Wilkes Women's Tennis Earns Landmark Win Against Susquehanna
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team earned a 5-2 Landmark Conference victory over Susquehanna University Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
Wilkes improved to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in Landmark matches while Susquehanna dropped to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in league contests.
Wilkes took two of three matches in double splay to earn the team point. At No. 1 pairs,
Tea Amerise (Mountain Top, PA/Holy Redeemer) and
Sydney Farmer (Lacey Township, NJ/Lacey Township) won 6-2 and at No. 3
Isabel Schreffler (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) and
Julia Spaeth (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg Area) took a 6-1 win.
In singles play, Amerise was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Alexa Wanamaker at No. 1. Spaeth won 3-6, 6-5 (7-5), 6-2 at No. 2 and Schreffler earned a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4.
Ava Vacula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area Secondary Center) rounded out the Colonels singles winners with a straight set 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6.
The Colonels return to the court Monday for a non-conference match against FDU-Florham starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
