CENTER VALLEY, PA - The Wilkes baseball team defeated DeSales on the road Wednesday night by a final score of 13-8. The game was called in the top of the ninth inning due to rain in the area.

The Colonels had a strong first inning, taking a quick 5-0 lead with Nathan Loch (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) getting the first run of the game for Wilkes after stealing third and advancing to home after a throwing error by the catcher. Jack Mathis (Exeter PA/Wyoming Area) and Luke Spencer (Lehman, PA/Lake Lehman) recorded the second and third runs after a double to left center by Andres Cruz (Wayne, PA/Radnor) and Cruz scored after a double down the left field line by Jacob Cambria (Elysburg, PA/Southern Columbia). To close out the runs for the first inning, Cambria scored off a single through the left side by Michael Sabella (Cornelius, NC/Hough)

Wilkes opened the second inning with their sixth run, with Loch scoring after Cruz reached first on a fielder's choice. DeSales got on the board in the bottom of the second inning, scoring two runs to cut their deficit to four.
