Wilkes Baseball Defeats Lycoming 5-0
WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Wilkes baseball team increased their win streak to 12 following a 5-0 victory over Lycoming on Wednesday afternoon. The Colonels now sit 26-8 overall and 17-3 in conference play.
The game remained scoreless until the third inning when Jack Mathis (Exeter PA/Wyoming Area) flew out to left field allowing Trehnon Hugo (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing) to score the first run of the day. In the fifth inning, Mathis recorded his first home run as a Colonel, bringing Hugo and Gavin Lacoe (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) home to give Wilkes a 4-0 lead.
The score remained unchanged until the ninth inning when Jacob Cambria (Elysburg, PA/Southern Columbia) hit a sacrifice fly out to center field which brought Mathis home for the final run of the game.Â
On the mound, AJ Levandoski (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) pitched for eight innings and recorded eight strikeouts while allowing no runs on only three hits. Ethan Grodack (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Wayne) pitched the final inning and allowed no runs on one hit.Â
The Colonels will face Susquehanna next for a weekend series beginning on Saturday, April 26 at 12 p.m.
