EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team hosted Goucher College at Schmidt Stadium on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Gophers 21-6 on Senior Day.

Wilkes falls to 0-10 overall with the loss and 0-4 in Landmark play, while Goucher improves to 6-6 overall with a 1-3 record against conference opponents.

The visitors opened the scoring on the day at the 1:02 mark of the first quarter, but less than a minute later Brooklyn Pedana (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area) tied the game at one on a helper from Taylor Sparks (Monroeville, NJ/Woodstown). Goucher then went on an 11-goal run that carried into the second quarter, before Pedana tallied her second goal of the day with 2:21 remaining to go into the break with the score 12-2.

After an assist on Pedana's first goal, Sparks opened the third quarter scoring at 11:35, followed by Emily Jackson's (Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) unassisted strike at 9:30 to bring the score to 13-4. The Gopher offense went on another strong run to end the third quarter and start the fourth, scoring five unanswered goals.

Pedana completed her hat trick with 9:47 remaining in the game and scored a fourth goal in the final two minutes of play after a pass from Morgan Foytack (Moscow, PA/North Pocono), but the Colonels fell to the Gophers 21-6 when the horn sounded.

Pedana led the team with four goals and seven shots on goal, with Sparks and Foytack picking up assists. Pedana was also one of five Colonels to share a team-high two ground balls, while Mara Adams (Mehoopany, PA/Tunkhannock Area) led the team with three caused turnovers. In goal, Rissa Brazeau (Timmins, ON) took the decision and made seven saves through 25 minutes, while Brooklynn Donia (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) made one save in 34 minutes of play.

Emily Burk and Katie Bloom led Goucher with four goals each, while Amelia Lazzini led the visitors with five assists. Goalkeeper Sydney Lewis made five saves through 30 minutes of play and led the team with five ground balls.

Before the game, Wilkes Athletics honored the five Colonel seniors, Pedana, Alexis Guttilla (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by-the-Sea), Sam Mullen (Dover, PA/York Catholic), Sarah Eliff (Owings, MD/Northern) and Kellie Scott (Northport, ME/Kents Hill) as a part of the Senior Day festivities.
