EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes University baseball team scored three runs in the seventh inning to take a mid-week Landmark Conference win over Lycoming College 6-5 at Bruggeworth Field Wednesday night.

Wilkes improves to 19-8 overall and 12-3 in Landmark play, while Lycoming falls to 7-6 in conference play.

The visitors scored the first runs of the day in the third inning, plating two on a throwing error. The Colonels cut the lead in half in the bottom of the frame on a Lycoming throwing error, ending the third inning down 2-1.

The Warriors scored three more runs over the next two innings, growing their lead to 5-1. In the sixth inning, Chase Vrabel's (Gibsonia, PA/Pine Richland) groundout and Matthew Show's (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) single to right field scored two more runs, cutting the deficit to 5-3.

With runners on first and second in the seventh, Vrabel popped up to second base, scoring two runs on an error to tie the game at five. Later in the inning, Gavin Lacoe (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights) scored the winning run with a single through the left side giving the Colonels a 6-5 lead, their first of the day.

The Colonel defense held firm after grabbing the lead, allowing just one hit in the eighth inning as they claimed victory to move to 1-1 in the midweek series with the Warriors.

Tyler Uram (Carbondale Twp, PA/Lakeland) (1-1) picked up the win with four innings of shutout relief, allowing only two hits with seven strikeouts. Starting pitcher Hunter Lawall (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) pitched five innings allowing five runs (two earned) with five strikeouts.
