Jaques Departs as Wilkes Head Men's Lacrosse Coach
WILKES-BARRE -- Wilkes University Athletics Director
Scott Musa announced Wednesday that head men's lacrosse coach
Curtis Jaques has departed his position to take a new role at Wilkes University.
Jaques, who was hired in 2014 to restart the Colonels program, posted a 44-103 overall record in 10 seasons. Wilkes made MAC Freedom Tournament appearances in 2019 and 2021 with the 2019 squad advancing to the tournament semifinals before falling, 11-7, to regular season champion Eastern University.
This past season, Wilkes finished 4-13 overall and 1-8 in the Landmark Conference.
Jaques is leaving athletics to become the assistant director of undergraduate admissions with a focus on the states of New York and Connecticut.
"I want to thank Curtis for everything he has done with athletics," Musa stated. "After a hiatus of more than 30 years, Curtis successfully restarted our program in 2016 and then guided us through the transition into the Landmark Conference last year.
"We appreciate everything he has done for Wilkes, the athletic department, and the men's lacrosse program. We wish him well as he moves across campus to take on this new role."
"We will conduct a national search for our next coach and I look forward to working with that person to build a highly successful program in both the Landmark and across Division III."
