Wilkes Hires Drumheller as New Men's Lacrosse Head Coach
WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University Athletic Director Scott Musa has announced the hiring of Jordan Drumheller as the new head coach of the Wilkes men's lacrosse program.
Drumheller becomes the second coach since the rebirth of the men's lacrosse program at Wilkes, entering his second head coaching job at the collegiate level.
"I am so happy to have Jordan join us as our next head men's lacrosse coach," said Musa. "He is a proven winner and recruiter that impressed everyone on campus when he came for his visit. I look forward to working with him to build our program into one that regularly competes for Landmark Conference championships," Musa added.
Drumheller come to Wilkes after a four-year stint as head coach at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. At Hendrix, Drumheller's teams appeared in three straight Southern Athletic Conference Tournaments. He coached 10 All-SAC players, one All-Region and one All-American selection. In 2022, Drumheller led the squad to its first win over a nationally-ranked Sewanee in program history.
"I want to thank Scott Musa and the entire search committee for believing in me to lead this program into the future and I am excited to get started with this new opportunity," explained Drumheller. "I would also like to thank the Hendrix community for giving me four memorable seasons.
Prior to Hendrix, Drumheller spent four seasons (2018-21) as an assistant coach at Bridgewater (Va.), where he helped mentor 10 All-ODAC performers and three All-Americans while the program won 30 games over the four-year span including three straight ODAC Tournaments (semifinal berth in 2021).
"I am excited about the opportunity to lead and elevate the Wilkes men's lacrosse program, as competing in the Landmark is very competitive," Drumheller added. "Wilkes is a special place, not only the rich academic traditions and commitment to student-athlete development but also the opportunity to be part of a passionate and growing sports culture. My goal is to make Wilkes men's lacrosse a premier competitive program in the Landmark," he noted.
Prior to Bridgewater, Drumheller spent four seasons (2014-17) as an assistant coach at Division II Catawba (N.C.), where he helped produce 12 All-Deep South Conference performers. Drumheller has also served as an assistant coach for two seasons (2012-13) at Huntingdon (Ala.) and one season (2011) at Sewanee (Tenn.).
In his playing days, Drumheller was an attacker for four seasons (2007-10) at Greensboro (N.C.), where in 58 games he compiled 50 goals, 44 assists, 94 points and 54 ground balls. As a junior, he helped guide the Pride to a 10-5 overall record and led the team in points (42).
Drumheller earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise/Sport Science with a concentration in Coaching from Greensboro in 2010. The Severna Park, Md. native attended Severna Park High School, where he won a 4A state championship as a sophomore and 3A state title as a senior.
