AUSTIN, TX – Cameron Butka (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) of the Wilkes University men's wrestling team has been named to the 2025 At-Large Academic All-America® Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and announced by the organization Wednesday afternoon.

This is Butka's first career Academic All-America® selection and the 16^th in school history. He is the fourth wrestler to earn the distinction and the first since 2018.

Nominees to the Academic All-America program must have at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be a starter or important reserve on their teams. Selections are determined through a national vote of collegiate communications professionals.

"Cameron continues to show what his hard work, goal driven and commitment to excellence produces," said Wilkes Director of Wrestling Jon Laudenslager '99. "Cam certainly is so deserving of all the continued achievements he continues to be awarded."

Butka finished his collegiate career in the 2024-25 season as an NCAA Finalist at 197 lbs. and the program's leader in wins with 137. He was also named the 2024-25 Wilkes University Athlete of the Year and graduated with a degree in biochemistry this past spring with a 3.86 GPA.

The Scranton, Pa. native is a two-time All-American, finishing fourth at the NCAA Tournament in 2024. He is also a two-time regional champion at 197 lbs., winning the title in 2024 and 2025. As a sophomore, Butka took home the 197 lb. title at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship and was named First Team All-MAC.

Butka was also a four-time National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American and was selected to the CSC Academic All-District® At-Large team three times. As a sophomore, Butka was inducted into the prestigious Colonels Elite society and the Beta Delta chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma as a junior.

This fall, Butka will attend the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a PhD in chemistry.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist the CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division III Academic All-America® program.
