OSWEGO, N.Y. – Host Oswego State jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first half on way to a 3-1 on-conference season opening victory over the Wilkes University women's soccer team Saturday afternoon at Laker Turf Stadium.

Courtney Key scored first for Oswego 9:24 into the first half off an assist from Amber McDermott. Just four minutes later, Key struck again for the Lakers this time off an assist from Kyla Sustad to push the advantage to 2-0.

Jess Shea (Somerset, NJ/Franklin) cut the lead in half at the 32:54 mark of the first half when she found the back of the net thanks to a feed from Elena Krajain (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional).

The teams traded chances throughout the first twenty-five minutes of the second half before Sabrina Schmitt put the match out of reach with a goal at 73:44.

Oswego held a 16-11 shot advantage with nine coming on goal to the Colonels four. The Lakers also held a slim 8-7 advantage in corner kicks while committing 17 fouls in the contest.
