Wilkes Men's Soccer Drops Road Match at Lancaster Bible College
LANCASTER, PA – The Wilkes men's soccer team dropped a hard fought match Monday night against Lancaster Bible College with a final score of 2-1.
The first half remained scoreless in a competitive match up between Wilkes and Lancaster Bible College.The Colonels recorded four shots while the Chargers put up six shots of their own. Will Wagstaff (Allentown, PA/Parkland), Giovanni Mazzaola, Luke Ferrarese (Bel Air, MD/Calvert Hall College), and Diego Almieda (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) recorded the shots for the Colonels. In goal, Matthew Conti (Florence, NJ/Florence Township Memorial High School) recorded three saves to keep the game even at zero.
The Chargers came out strong to start the second half, scoring twice in quick succession with goals in the 46th and 50th minute. The Colonels responded in the last seven minutes of the game with a goal from Timmy Roberts (Lake Ariel, PA/Western Wayne) assisted by Brett Sanders (Goshen, NY/Goshen). Wilkes managed to get eight shots off in the half, with Lancaster recording ten of their own. Lorenzo Lici (), Devon Nelson (Dallas, PA/Dallas), Almieda, Wagstaff, Daniel Bend (Sheffield, UK/Wath Academy), and Kendall Heck (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area High School) all took shots this half. Conti recorded five more saves totaling eight saves, with Landon Keller (Provo, UT/Timpview) recording one save of his own.
The Colonels travel to Glenside, PA this Saturday, September 6, to face Arcadia University at 1:00p.m.
