Wilkes Women's Soccer Drops Hard Fought Match Against Lebanon Valley College 1-0

EDWARDSVILLE, PA – The Wilkes women's soccer team dropped a hard fought match against the Flying Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College this Saturday afternoon by a final score of 1-0

The Colonels fall to an overall record of 2-2-1 while Lebanon Valley climbs to 5-0.

In the first half of play, Wilkes' defense held the Flying Dutchman to a 0-0 match for 34 minutes, as goalkeeper Molly Dietsch (Fishtown, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) protected the net for the Colonels. Wilkes fought for control, but the Flying Dutchman took the lead with a goal from Abrielle Miller at the 36th minute mark.

Lebanon Valley outshot Wilkes 7-1 with 4 shots on goal.

Wilkes came out hot in the second half as they fired off two shots at the 52nd and 57th minute, but couldn't find the back of the net. With fifteen minutes remaining in the half, Wilkes' offense began to flurry as they fought to tie the game. In the final seconds, Addi Parker (Canton, PA/Canton) sent a cross to Riley Mastriani (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) who headed the ball to Jess Shea (Somerset, NJ/Franklin) for a last second shot, but a Flying Dutchman was there for the block. With Wilkes unable to score, the final of the match was 1-0 in Lebanon Valley's favor.

Shea led the offense for Wilkes as she added 2 shots while Elena Krajain (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional), Abby Bolz (Fair Hill, MD/Rising Sun), and Maggie Allen (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) each added 1. Dietsch and Delaney Yaracs (Butler, PA/Butler) split time in the goalie's box for Wilkes as Yaracs contributed 2 saves and Dietsch with 3 saves.

The Colonels are on the road as they travel to Reading, Pa. to face Albright College on Wednesday, September 17 at 7:00p.m.
