Thompson and McCance Named Landmark Athletes of the Week
TOWSON, MD – Wilkes men's cross country sophomore Jack Thompson (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) and Wilkes women's golf junior Kyleen McCance (Hanover, PA/Hanover Area) were both recognized for their exceptional play by the Landmark Conference with Athlete of the Week honors for their respective sports, as announced by the conference this afternoon.
This is Thompson's first time receiving this award while this is McCance's second time earning this award with the first being for the 2024-2025 season.
Thompson led the Colonels during the Cougar Classic 8k held at Misericordia this past weekend. Finishing with a time of 28:05:00, good enough for a second-place individual finish.
Thompson and the Colonels race again on Saturday, September 27, as they travel to Lock Haven for the Lock Haven University Open.
McCance helped the Colonels secure a match sweep over Misericordia and King's College on Saturday, as she shot a match-low of 74. This score put her at the top of the scoreboard and earned her medalist honors at the Wyoming Valley Country Club.
Wilkes women's golf returns to the Wyoming Valley Country Club to battle against Misericordia, Marywood, and Landmark opponent Scranton on Saturday, September 20, at 1:00p.m.
