ST. DAVIDS, PA – With the game tied at one, Eastern University's CJ Summa scored her second goal of the game to lift the host Eagles to a 2-1 overtime victory over the Wilkes University field hockey team Wednesday afternoon.
 
Wilkes fell to 5-4 overall on the season following the overtime road defeat while Eastern improved to 5-3 overall on the year.
 
The game remained scoreless through the first three quarters of play before Maddie Karp (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area) notched her sixth goal of the season when she found the back of the cage off an assist from Taylor Bower (Bloomsburg, PA/Bloomsburg) at the 47:31 mark.
 
Eight minutes later Summa tied the game at one when she scored off an assist from Abby Hakes sending the game into the extra session. From there Summa notched the game-winning goal 8:59 into the overtime frame when she scored on a penalty stroke.
 
Eastern outshot Wilkes 21-14 with 14 coming on goal to the Colonels 10 shots on the cage. The Eagles also garnered 11 penalty corners to Wilkes' four attempts.
 
Chloe Gilroy (Manchester, NH/Pace University) played the whole game in net for Wilkes finishing with 10 saves.
 
Wilkes remains on the road Saturday when the Colonels open Landmark Conference play at Elizabethtown College at 1:00 p.m.
