Men's Ice Hockey Shut Out in Matinee Matchup Against Alvernia
 
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's ice hockey team returned to home ice for the second straight weekend, losing a Friday afternoon contest versus Alvernia University, 5-0. 

The Colonels dropped to 8-6-3 (5-6-2 MAC). On the other side, the Golden Wolves improved to 11-6-0 (9-4-0 MAC).

Alvernia started the scoring just three minutes in when Leo Cabulis lit the lamp to give the visitors an early lead at 3:00 even. On the power play with less than 20 seconds to go, the Golden Wolves scored once more off a tally from Sawyer Senio. 

The away side scored once more at 11:32 into the middle period when Vincent Servizzi was the goalscorer on the play that gave the Golden Wolves a 3-0 lead. 

The Colonels had their best bit of play in the second period, when they amassed a total of 16 shots on goal during the frame, but were unable to find a way back into the contest. 

Alvernia went on to score two more times in the third period. Edvin Robertsson scored on the power play to make it 4-0 at 5:34. With less than 30 seconds left in the game, Keegan Driscoll found the back of the net to make it a 5-0 contest, 

For Wilkes, Duncan Rolleman (New Hamburg, ON/) made 27 saves in the loss. Christian Blomquist (Wauwatosa, WI/) led the team with four shots on goal, while Matt Carlson's (Delmar, NY/) 13 faceoff wins led the Colonels. 

On the opposing side, Connor Graham stopped all 32 shots to earn the shutout win. Senio, Robertsson and Frazier Dodd each recorded three points each in the victory. 

The Colonels return to action tomorrow afternoon, Jan. 24 for another matchup with Alvernia. Puck drop against the Golden Wolves is slated for 3:30 p.m. at the Toyota Sportsplex
