Wilkes Women's Ice Hockey Clinches Top Seed with Win at Arcadia University

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's ice hockey team clinched their second consecutive No. 1 playoff seed Saturday afternoon, defeating Arcadia University 3-0 on the road at Hatfield Ice Arena.

Wilkes improves to 19-1-1 overall and 17-1-0 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play, while Arcadia falls to 15-5-2 on the year and 13-4-1 in conference competition.

Halfway through the first period Nina Hudakova (Košice, Slovakia/Hoosac Prep School) drew first blood for Wilkes, lighting the lamp for her eighteenth goal of the season and giving the Colonels a 1-0 lead.

Three minutes into the second period, Delaney Howard (Pittsburgh, PA) doubled the advantage with a breakaway strike. Hudakova added her second of the day five minutes later on the power play to give the Navy and Gold a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the third period.

A quiet third from both teams kept the scoreline the same, but Wilkes comfortably took the win at the final horn.

Hudakova's two goals led the scoring, while Haylee Bouchard (Sioux Lookout, ON/) continued to share the puck at a record pace notching a team-high two assists. The junior forward also led the team with six total shots on goal. In goal, Audrey Milne (London, ON) made 26 saves in the shutout win.

Haylee Kos led Arcadia with seven total shots but was unable to find the back of the net. Between the pipes, Gabby Meger made 26 saves in the loss.

Wilkes returns to the ice next Friday, February 13 for Senior Day at the Toyota SportsPlex as they host King's College. Puck drop against the Monarchs is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
