Wilkes Women's Tennis Sweeps Shawnee State to Begin Spring Break Trip
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University women's tennis team opened its 2026 spring season and Spring Break trip on a winning note posting a 7-0 sweep of Shawnee State on Sunday afternoon.
Wilkes opened a 1-0 lead after doubles play taking all three flights of pair play.
Ana Savkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/The Hoosac School) and
Julia Spaeth (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg Area) won 6-0 at No. 1 doubles while
Ava Vacula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area Secondary Center) and
Isabel Schreffler (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) earned a 6-0 victory at No. 2. Shawnee defaulted at No. 3 doubles.
The Colonels then claimed wins in all six single flights including a Shawnee default at No. 6. Savkovic won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 while Spaeth earned 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) win at No. 2.
Kensington Edmond (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) secured her match 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 while
Kayley Skibicki (Hanover, PA/South Western) won 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 4.
Isabella Bopp (Verona, NJ/Verona) finished off the singles wins with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5.
Wilkes is back in action on Tuesday with a match against University of Dubuque starting at 5:00 p.m.
