Wilkes Men's Tennis Falls 6-1 Against Catholic in Landmark Opener
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to visiting Catholic University in its Landmark Conference opener Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
Wilkes fell to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in conference matches following the defeat. Catholic improved to 7-5 overall and remained unbeaten at 2-0 in Landmark competition.
The Colonels lone win came in singles play where
Sebastian Sylvester (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago/The College of Lady Fatima) posted a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 2.
Catholic swept all three doubles flights then won five if six in singles play in straight sets to earn the conference win.
Wilkes continues its home stretch Saturday with another Landmark match against Elizabethtown College set for 1:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
