ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team picked up its first Landmark Conference win of the season after the Colonels claimed a 5-2 decision over host Elizabethtown College Saturday afternoon in the Bowers Center.
 
Wilkes improved to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in Landmark matches following the win. Elizabethtown dropped to 3-4 overall and 0-4 in league contests.
 
Wilkes opened with a 1-0 lead after doubles play thanks to wins from No. 1 pair Sebastian Sylvester (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago/The College of Lady Fatima) and Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Xavier) 6-2 and the No. 3 duo of Xavier Bleiler (Mountain Top, PA/MMI Prep) and Luke Meissner (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) 6-3.
 
Sylvester continued his strong play with a victory at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1 followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win from Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Xavier) at No. 2. Landon Gleichauf (Naples, NY/Naples) and Bleiler rounded out the Colonels singles winners at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.
 
Wilkes returns to action Tuesday when the Colonels host the University of Scranton at 4:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
