Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Bested by Catholic
EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team hosted Catholic University at a frigid Schmidt Stadium Saturday afternoon, falling to the Cardinals 22-1.
Wilkes falls to 8-3 on the year (0-3 Landmark), while Catholic improves to 5-4 (3-0 Landmark).
The Cardinals raced out to an 11-0 lead early in the game, with
Emily Jackson (Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) the first to put the Colonels on the board in the second quarter. Fellow senior
Mara Adams (Mehoopany, PA/Tunkhannock Area) provided the assist.
Wilkes was unable to find the net again as Catholic went on to take the victory.
Jackson was the lone Colonel goalscorer, while
Taylor Sparks (Monroeville, NJ/Woodstown) led the team with two shots on goal. Adams had a team-high two ground balls while
Nina-Lily Veale (Franklin, TN/Franklin) had five draw controls, followed by
Taylor Sparks (Monroeville, NJ/Woodstown) with four. In goal,
Davyn Bonvie (Wyoming, PA/Dallas) made seven saves.
Three Cardinals shared a game-high three goals, while Maggie Traynor had five assists. Lindsay Sawyer led the team with four ground balls, while Ariana Bransfield and Tori Wilsey each had four draw controls. In net, Alexandra Ragano picked up the win.
Wilkes returns to action on Wednesday, April 1
st as they travel to face Goucher College at 7:00 p.m.
