Wilkes Women's Tennis Posts 5-2 Victory Against Dubuque
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University women's tennis team recorded its second win on its spring break trip after the Colonels bested the University of Dubuque 5-2 on Tuesday night.
Wilkes improved to 3-3 in dual matches on the season following the win.
Wilkes took two of three doubles flights on way to the 1-0 lead.
Ana Savkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/The Hoosac School) and
Julia Spaeth (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg Area) won 6-3 at No. 1 pairs while
Isabella Bopp (Verona, NJ/Verona) and
Kensington Edmond (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) took their match 6-4 at No. 3.
Savkovic kept her singles record unblemished with a straight set 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1.
Isabel Schreffler (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) won 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 at No. 4 while
Ava Vacula (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area Secondary Center) bested Maddie Brosnaham 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 10-8 at No. 5.
Kayley Skibicki (Hanover, PA/South Western) clinched the match with her first win in singles play as a Colonel over Emma Karlstedt 6-3, 6-2.
The Colonels are back on the court on Thursday with a match against Lebanon Valley College starting at 10:00 a.m.
