Wilkes Men's Tennis Closes Out Spring Break Trip with 4-3 Win Over Johnson & Wales
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – The Wilkes University men's tennis team closed out its 2026 spring break trip with a 4-3 victory over Johnson and Wales University on Friday morning.
Wilkes improved to 4-1 overall in dual matches on the season while Johnson & Wales slipped to 1-7 overall on the year.
Wilkes opened a 1-0 lead after doubles play taking two of three flights in pairs action.
Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Xavier) and
Sebastian Sylvester (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago/The College of Lady Fatima) won 6-2 at No. 1 while
Otarhe Okoh (Shakopee, MN/Shakopee) Landon Gleichauf (Naples, NY/Naples) took their No. 2 match 6-1.
Sylvester, playing at No. 1 singles, posted a 6-2, 1-6, 10-8 victory over John Billinis. Okoh claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 while Gleichauf out the Colonels ahead for good winning 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 at No. 5.
Wilkes returns home on Saturday, March 21 when the Colonels open Landmark Conference play against Catholic University starting at 1:00 p.m.
