EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team hosted Moravian University at Schmidt Stadium Saturday afternoon, falling to the Greyhounds 22-4 on Senior Day.

Wilkes falls to 8-8 (0-8 Landmark) on the season while Moravian improves to 11-5 (6-2 Landmark) overall.

After three Greyhound goals to start the game, Taylor Sparks (Monroeville, NJ/Woodstown) put the Colonels on the board, converting a free position shot into the team's first goal of the day. The visitors then went on to score 13 unanswered goals that saw them extend their lead to 16-1 in the third.

Alexis Guttilla (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) and Sparks then teamed up for three consecutive Colonel goals, with Sparks finding Guttilla twice in a row at 6:03 and 2:42. With 33 seconds left in the third, Sparks converted her second free position shot of the game to make it 16-4 going into the final period.

The Colonels were held scoreless in the final frame while Moravian scored six more goals to make the score 22-4 at the final horn.

Sparks led the Colonels with a four-point performance (2G, 2A), contributing to every Colonel goal. Guttilla followed her with the other two goals. Nina-Lily Veale (Franklin, TN/Franklin) led the team with six draw controls, while Mara Adams (Mehoopany, PA/Tunkhannock Area) led the team with three caused turnovers. In goal, Davyn Bonvie (Wyoming, PA/Dallas) made seven saves and collected a team-high three ground balls.

Kathryn Hunsinger and Kerry Seiler shared a game-high five goals for the Greyhounds, while Melissa Elefonte led the team with eight assists and 10 total points. Seiler also led the defensive efforts with four ground balls and four caused turnovers. In goal, Lily Parker made one save.

Prior to the game, Wilkes celebrated the careers of seniors Adams and Emily Jackson (Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) as a part of the senior day festivities.

Wilkes returns to Schmidt Stadium for their final game of the regular season on Wednesday, April 22nd, a conference clash with Lycoming College scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
