Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Falls to Lycoming in Season Finale
EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team closed the 2026 campaign at Schmidt Stadium Wednesday night, falling to Lycoming College 15-8.
The Colonels close their maiden campaign under head coach
Taylor Drumheller with an 8-9 overall record (0-9 Landmark), the most wins for the team since 2016. The Warriors improve to 4-12 overall (1-8 Landmark) to end the year.
Halie Albright (Taneytown, MD/Francis Scott Key) scored the first Colonel goal of the day, tying the game at one after Riley Block opened the scoring for the Warriors. Block and Albright traded goals again to keep the game deadlocked at 2-2, before Block completed her hat trick and the visitors added another to take a 4-2 lead. Albright then netted her hat trick with an unassisted goal at 1:59 to cut the deficit and send the Colonels into the quarter break down 4-3.
Much like the first quarter, the teams traded goals back and forth, this time
Morgan Hettesheimer (Monroe Twp., PA/Tunkhannock Area) scored the first two Colonel goals of the period, before two quick strikes from Block extended the Warrior lead again.
Taylor Sparks (Monroeville, NJ/Woodstown) scored the last goal of the half to make it 8-6 Lycoming at halftime.
In the second half, Lycoming scored six unanswered goals to push the game out of reach and take a 14-6 lead. The Colonels didn't go out without a fight, as
Emily Jackson (Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area) and Hettesheimer netted two late goals, but it wasn't enough as the Warriors took the 15-8 win.
Albright and Hettesheimer's hat tricks led the Colonel attack with three goals and three points. Sparks also had a multi-point game with one goal and one assist while leading the team with seven draw controls.
Madyson Martinez (Owasso, OK/Owasso) led the defensive efforts with three caused turnovers, while
Davyn Bonvie (Wyoming, PA/Dallas) made seven saves and had a team-high five ground balls.
Block the Warriors in most statistical categories, holding the team-highs in goals (12), points (14), draw controls (12), and caused turnovers (6). Emma Yanders made 11 saves in goal en route to the victory.
