Wilkes Men's Tennis Drops Conference Contest at Susquehanna
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's tennis team faced Susquehanna University in conference competition on Sunday afternoon, falling to the River Hawks 4-3 at the Garrett Tennis Courts.
Wilkes falls to 5-8 overall (1-6 Landmark) with the loss, while Susquehanna improves to 8-6 (3-5 Landmark) on the year.
The Colonels took the team point in doubles play, starting with a win in No. 1 doubles as the team of
Sebastian Sylvester (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago/The College of Lady Fatima) and
Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Xavier) picked up the win over Tyler Hester and Logan Rauschenberger 6-2.
Xavier Bleiler (Mountain Top, PA/MMI Prep) and
Cole Larcinese (King of Prussia, PA/Methacton) clinched the point for the Colonels with a win in the No. 3 spot 6-4.
Sylvester and
Landon Gleichauf (Naples, NY/Naples) were victorious for Wilkes in singles play, winning at No. 2 in three sets (6-2, 1-6, 7-5) and No. 3 6-3, 6-1 respectively. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be enough as the hosts took four singles matches to claim victory.
Wilkes returns to action on Wednesday, April 22 as the Colonels host Lycoming College at the Ralston Athletic Complex. Competition is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
