Wilkes Men's Tennis Cruises to Landmark Win Over Lycoming
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team recorded its second Landmark Conference victory of the season as the Colonels cruised past visiting Lycoming College Wednesday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
Wilkes improved to 6-8 overall and 2-6 in league matches following the home win. Lycoming dropped to 3-13 overall and 0-9 in conference contests.
Wilkes stormed out to a 1-0 lead after doubles play taking all their pairs flights.
Sebastian Sylvester (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago/The College of Lady Fatima) and
Cole Riley (Louisville, KY/Xavier) won 6-1 at No. 1 followed by a 6-0 blanking at No. 2 by
Otarhe Okoh (Shakopee, MN/Shakopee) and
Landon Gleichauf (Naples, NY/Naples).
Luis Delgado (Wilkes Barre, PA/Wilkes Barre Area) and Cole Larinese finished off the doubles sweep with a 6-1 victory at No. 3.
Wilkes then swept all six singles flights in straight sets. Sylvester, Riley, Gleichauf,
Xavier Bleiler (Mountain Top, PA/MMI Prep), Okoh and
Luke Meissner (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) were the winners at No. 1 through No. 6 respectively.
Wilkes finishes Landmark play Thursday at Drew University starting at 4:00 p.m.
