Wilkes Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 at Home Against Moravian
EDWARDSVILLE – Visiting Moravian University posted a 6-1 victory over the Wilkes University women's tennis team Thursday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
With the loss Wilkes moved to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in Landmark matches. Moravian improved to 11-2 overall and remained unbeaten at 4-0 in conference play.
Moravian took a 1-0 lead after doubles play thanks to three wins in pair action.
Wilkes' lone win came at No. 1 singles as
Ana Savkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/The Hoosac School) remained perfect on the season with a 6-0, 6-0 straight set sweep of Leah Zolotarreva. Moravian then took No. 2 through No. 6 to secure the conference win.
Wilkes continues Landmark play Sunday with a road match at Goucher College starting at 12:00 p.m.
