Wilkes Men's Soccer Falls to Ramapo in Season Opener
EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Wilkes University men's soccer team opened the season at Bruggeworth Field on Tuesday evening, falling to the visiting Ramapo College Roadrunners 5-0.
Wilkes had the first shot of the day and showed promise with three in the opening 30 minutes, but it was Ramapo who scored first in the 29
th minute off the shot from David Oh. The visitors doubled the lead seven minutes later, taking a 2-0 lead into the break.
In the second half, Ramapo added three more to take the 5-0 victory.
Kendall Heck (West Wyoming, PA/Wyoming Area High School) and
Giovanni Mazzola (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall High School) led the Colonels with three shots each and one on goal. In goal
Tyler Tarnalicki (Plains, PA/Holy Redeemer) made six saves, including two back-to-back denials in the second half.
Five different Roadrunners scored on the day, with Oh leading the team in shots (6) and shots on goal (4). Zachary Natt made two saves and kept a clean sheet in net for Ramapo.
Wilkes returns to action on Saturday, September 5 as the Colonels host NYU at Bruggeworth Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
