WILKES-BARRE – King's College goalkeeper Tim Kelly stopped all seven of Wilkes University's shots on goal as the Monarchs took a 4-0 win over the Colonels in the ECAC Championships semifinal game.

The win allows the No. 1 seeded Monarchs to advance to the ECAC Championship finals, where they will face Catholic, who won its semifinal game 3-2 in overtime over Frostburg. The Colonels, seeded fifth in the ECAC Championships, ended their season with an 11-8-3 record and reached the Freedom Conference finals before falling to Misericordia in a sudden death shootout.

Cameron Audette gave the Monarchs the early lead with a goal at the 11:33 mark as he scored an empty-net goal on an assist from Joe Bender. King's would cling to a 1-0 advantage before Bender scored a break away goal at the 41-minute mark to give the Monarchs a 2-0 halftime lead.

Wilkes was able to get five of its 12 shots off in the first half, while King's recorded eight of its 16 in the first period. Sean Vona (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) led the team with three total shots and two on goal, while Doug Moore (Doylestown, Pa./New-Hope Solebury), Ed Zulkoski (Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) and Arthur Jankowski (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) each had two shots.

Audette gave the Monarchs a comfortable three goal advantage with a score at the 61st minute with another assist from Bender that found the back of the net just inside the right post.   King's would pour it on with its final score with less than a minute to play when Sam Cressler riffled a shot from the top of the penalty box, giving the Monarchs a 4-0 lead.

The Colonels had seven shots on goal, while King's finished the game with eight. The championship game is set tomorrow in Wilkes-Barre on King's home field.
