The men's tennis team won all three doubles matches before winning four of five singles contests to take a 7-1 win over Misericorida. The Colonels improved to 12-1 overall and 6-1 in Freedom Conference play.
In doubles play,
Evan Katz (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and
Jon Rohrbach (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) took an 8-0 win over Frank Nutt and Brett Ford to take a 1-0 lead before
Kyle Ungvarsky (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) and
Chris Cozzillio (Harrisburg, Pa./Trinity) teamed up to win 8-0 at the No. 2 spot.
Wes McCollum (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and
Brian Fanelli (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) finished off the doubles competition by winning 8-1 at the No. 3 spot.
The Colonels kept the momentum in singles play as Ungvarsky gave Wilkes a 4-0 lead after his 6-0, 6-0 win over Nate Powers at the No. 3 position before Cozzillio clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 4 spot.
McCollum quickly took a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot before Katz took three sets to take down Fred Hockenburg 2-6, 6-1, 10-3 at the No. 1 spot. Misericordia won its only match at the No. 6 spot before the match between
Brian Fanelli (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Matt Hopkins was cancelled because of rain.
The Colonels will be back in action Thursday when they host PSU Berks at 3:30 p.m.
