The Wilkes University women's soccer team played their second home game of the season against Lebanon Valley Tuesday, losing to the Dutchmen 3-0. It's the first time the Lady Colonels have been shut-out this year.
The Dutchmen scored in the 20th minute of the contest on a direct kick by Ely Kirkoff that just avoided the outstretched hands of Colonel goalie
Brooke Keister (Penns Creek, Pa./Midd-West). It was her first goal of the season. Lebanon Valley would add another unassisted goal by Stevi Laird in the 36th minute to put the Dutchmen up 2-0 going into the break.
In the second half Wilkes would place plenty of pressure on the Dutchmen defense, but couldn't put a point on the board. Meanwhile, Dutchmen forward Courtney Catania dribbled past the Colonel defense in the 87th minute and scored Lebanon Valley's third and final goal of the game.
Wilkes fired 15 shots on the day, which was even with the Dutchmen, but six of Lebanon Valley's were on goal.
With the loss the Lady Colonels fall to 3-3 on the season, but will look to bounce back when they host Centenary Saturday, Sept. 19 at Ralston Field. The game will begin at 2:30 pm.
