The Wilkes University men's team picked up its second-straight sweep of the weekend after beating Elizabethtown 9-0 on its home courts.
The Colonels cruised through the doubles competition winning all three matches. At No. 1 doubles,
Jeremy Nolt (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) and
Chris Cozzillio (Harrisburg/Trinity) took an 8-3 win over Manrique Arrea and Bryan Metz before
Cesar Leon (Woodhaven, NY/Brooklyn Tech) and
Clarke Freeman (York, PA/Central York) made it 2-0 with an 8-6 victory over Josh Riehl and Eric Fritzger at the No. 2 position. The tandem of
Wes McCollum (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) and
Evan Katz (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) completed the doubles sweep with their 8-5 win at the No. 3 spot.
In singles play, McCollum made it 4-0 after he beat Brok Walker 6-2, 6-1 at the No.3 spot before Nolt clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-1 straight-set win over Riehl at the No. 2 spot. Leon continued the winning ways for Wilkes with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Arrea at the top spot, while Cozzillio won his match 6-0, 6-1 over Metz at the No. 4 position.
Katz and Freeman both took victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions in straight sets to complete the singles sweep.
Wilkes will be back in action Tuesday when it travels to Bloomsburg to compete against the NCAA Division II school.
