The Wilkes University men's tennis team had an impressive showing against King's College, posting a 9-0 victory while dropping just 13 total games in both singles and doubles play.
In the doubles competition, the freshmen tandem of
Clarke Freeman (York, PA/Central York) and
Cesar Leon (Woodhaven, NY/Brooklyn Tech) took an 8-0 win at the No. 2 spot, before
Evan Katz (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) and
Wes McCollum (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) won their match 8-2 at the No. 3 position.
Chris Cozzillio (Harrisburg/Trinity) and
Jeremy Nolt (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Jon Hand and Tim Carroll at the top spot, giving Wilkes a 3-0 advantage.
In singles play, Freeman was the first to finish, taking a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dave Chen at No. 6 before McCollum clinched the victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Nick Conte at the No. 4 position.
Cozzillio and Katz would also take 6-0, 6-0 wins in their respective matches, while Leon took a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 and Nolt a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3.
The Colonels improved to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in Freedom Conference play and will be back in action on Sunday when they host Scranton at 3:30 p.m.
