The Wilkes University men's tennis team lost just six sets in singles play and six games in doubles action as it took a 9-0 win over DeSales in Freedom Conference action.
In doubles play,
Jon Rohrbach (Muncy/Muncy) teamed up with
Jefferson Bohan (Danville/Danville), who was playing in his first match of the year, as they defeated Adam Dorn and Robert Felty 8-1 to give the Colonels a quick 1-0 lead.
Chris Cozzillio (Harrisburg/Trinity) and
Cesar Leon (Woodhaven, NY/Brooklyn Tech) would follow suit as they beat Tom Grace and Anthony Guerriero 8-2 at the No. 1 spot.
Jeremy Nolt (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) and
Brandon Helfrich (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia), who was also playing his first match, won 8-3 at the No. 2 position to complete the doubles sweep, giving Wilkes a 3-0 advantage.
In singles play, Rohrbach and Wes McCullum both won their matches 6-0, 6-0, while
Evan Katz (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) defeated Dorn 6-2, 6-0, winning the second set without losing a point. Nolt would win his match 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot, while
Greg Bowser (Danville/Danville) took a 6-0, 6-1 win over Joe Sulpezio.
The Colonels improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in Freedom Conference play.
