Game One
Game Two
The Wilkes University softball team challenged Delaware Valley to a double-header on Saturday, falling to the Aggies by scores of 2-0 and 2-0.
In game one
Lindsay Behrenshausen (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs) was on the mound for Wilkes, and had no trouble till the third inning when the Aggies were able to score one runner and take an early lead. Meanwhile, offensively the Lady Colonels struggled, unable to manufacture a run through the middle innings.
The Aggies scored another in the fourth, giving them a 2-0 lead. Behind steady pitching a defense, Delaware Valley allowed just four hits in the contest, and the Lady Colonels were never able to climb back into the game, falling 2-0.
Gina Stafanelli had two hits for Wilkes, while Behrenshausen allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out four batters.
Game two was very similar to game one, as through four innings neither team had scored a run. In the bottom of the fifth the Aggies finally struck, scoring two runs which ended up being the difference in the game. Wilkes once again couldn't plate a runner, and collected only two hits in the contest before falling 2-0.
Abbey Agresti (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) and Stefanelli were the only Lady Colonels to record hits in the game, while
Maureen Pelot (Kirkville, N.Y./Chittenango) allowed two runs on just three hits and struck out two batters.
Wilkes ends it's season with a 12-22 (5-9) record.
