SCRANTON – Wilkes University fell to the University of Scranton 1-0 in a heartbreaking non-conference women's soccer loss on Wednesday night.

The Royals took the lead in the 28th minute, as Chelsea Paskman found the back of the net off a pass from Samantha Russo. That goal would be enough as both defenses kept the ball in the middle of the field for much of the contest.

The Lady Colonels (1-3) had a chance to tie in the 69th minute but a penalty kick by Maura Kelly (Hummelstown, Lower Dauphin)y was saved. Goalkeeper Samantha Rohn (Levittown, Neshaminy) started and went the entire way, saving four shots for Wilkes.

Wilkes is back in action this weekend, hosting Moravian College under the lights at the Ralston Athletic Complex on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
