WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER CRUISES TO 4-1 FREEDOM WIN OVER KING'S
 
EDWARDSVILLE – Alicia Roberts (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) scored two goals and Katie Cocchi (Morris Plains, NJ/Parsipany Hills) added two assists as Wilkes University posted a 4-1 win over cross-town rival King's College in Freedom women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at Ralston Field.
 
With the win Wilkes improves to 7-3-3 overall and remains unbeaten in Freedom play at 3-0-2. King's slips to 2-12 overall and 0-5 in league matches.
 
Wilkes wasted little time taking the lead when Jana Martin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central) continued her fine play scoring off a cross from Cocchi just :56 into the contest. The lead grew to 2-0 at the 8:55 mark after Roberts notched her first of two goals in the half off Cocchi's second helper of the game.
 
Roberts tallied her second of the game at 36:02 off a Martin cross from the right side to up the advantage to 3-0. Priscilla Bonilla (Fairless Hills, PA/The Pennington School) then finished the Lady Colonel scoring tear with a goal at 47:28 thanks to an assist from Haley Adam (Brookeville, MD/Sherwood).
 
King's lone goal came at the 53:40 mark as Mary Kate Lambert found the back of the net off a Samantha Beadle assist.
 
Wilkes held a 21-6 shot advantage while garnering five corner kicks. Sam Lindo (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) finished with two saves playing 80:44 of the contest in net for Wilkes. Haley Kay entered in relief. King's goalie Lauren Duguid made three stops in net for the Lady Monarchs.
 
Wilkes will return to the field Saturday when the Lady Colonels travel to Doylestown, Pa. for a 12:00 p.m. matchup with Delaware Valley.
