MADISON, NJ – Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) won two singles matches and got another two in doubles competition as Wilkes University began its 2011 spring season, competing in a men's tennis invitational at Drew University this past weekend. Hunter College, Division II Queens College, along with host Drew University also participated.

Makos, competing at No. 4 singles, defeated Mark Goldfinger of Hunter 6-2, 3-6, (10-3) in the first round and Matt Imbo of Drew 7-6(5), 6-0 in the second. He would lose to Cassidy Robertson of Queen 6-2, 6-1 in his final match of the day.

At No. 2 doubles, Makos teamed with Clarke Freeman (York, PA/Central York) to defeat pairs from Hunter and Queens, each 8-3.

The Colonels hit the courts again in two weeks when they travel to Myrtle Beach, SC to compete against teams during their spring break trip.
