MADISON, NJ – Cindy Diemer (Berwick/Berwick Area) and Alysha Bixler (Williamstown, PA/Williams Valley) each homered but FDU-Florham's offense was too strong as Wilkes University dropped both ends of a doubleheader to the Devils on Sunday, losing 9-4 and 10-7 at McManus Field in Madison, New Jersey.

Starter Lindsay Behrenshausen (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs) kept the Devils at through four innings in the circle in game one, allowing just four hits and one run.

The Lady Colonels then capitalized on an FDU mistake in the top of the fifth, as Amanda Holston (Frankford, DE/Sussex Central) scored from first after an error on a sacrifice bunt by Sarah Fife (Old Forge/Old Forge) to tie the score at 1-1.

The Devils rebounded with a strong bottom half, getting back-to-back homers, the first one being a two-run shot, to take a 4-1 lead.

Wilkes struck back in the sixth, as Jackie Follweiler (Slatington/Northern Lehigh) led of the inning with a single. Bixler then stepped up and blasted a shot over the wall in center, cutting the Lady Colonels deficit down to one at 4-3 heading into the final inning.

That's where FDU's offense got hot, getting five runs on five hits to take a commanding 9-3 lead.

Diemer's solo blast to left was the Lady Colonels only hit in the seventh, as FDU went on for the win.

She finished 2-for-3 in game one with that homer and a double, scoring once and adding a stolen base. Jordan Borger (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) also went 2-for-3 with a double, while Bixler and Follweiler each had one hit.

The Devils struck first in the second game with a two-run shot in the third inning. Wilkes came right back in the fourth, getting three hits and capitalizing on three FDU errors to score four runs and go on top by two.

Cori Saltzer (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin East) and Holston each collected RBI singles while Kait Brown (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in another.

The run-scoring continued in the bottom half when the Devils came around five more times to take a 7-4 lead into the fifth.

Bixler led off the inning with a single, then advanced to third on a double by Borger. Saltzer then brought Bixler home a sacrifice fly two batters later to cut the Lady Colonels deficit to two.

After two more runs by the Devils in the fifth, the Lady Colonels responded with two of their own, getting an RBI single by Bixler, which scored two when FDU committed its fifth error of the game.

Ahead 9-7, the Devils tacked on an insurance run in the seventh before getting Wilkes 1-2-3 to close out the sweep.

Bixler and Borger each collected two hits in game two while Saltzer knocked in two RBI.

The Lady Colonels (3-19, 2-8) return to the field on Tuesday when they travel to Alvernia University to take on the Crusaders in the Middle Atlantic Conference crossover doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
