WILKES-BARRE – The Colonels got a win at the top doubles spot but couldn't keep up the pace as Wilkes University fell to New York University 8-1 in a non-conference men's tennis matchup at the Ralston Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Evan Katz (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) and Wes McCollum (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) teamed the the Colonels only victory, defeating Connor Whitty and Steven Wu 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.

In the second spot, Clarke Freeman (York, PA/Central York) and Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) nearly madeit another win, getting edged out 8-6. That would be the closest the Colonels would get the rest of the contest.

The Colonels (5-3) get a chance to rebound on Wednesday as they host Moravian College at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
