WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER SUFFERS 2-1 OVERTIME HEARTBREAKER AGAINST ARCADIA

EDWARDSVILLE – Arcadia University used an own goal in the first minute of overtime to capture a 2-1 non-conference victory over Wilkes University in women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.

With the loss Wilkes moves to 4-2 overall and sees its three-game win streak come to an end. Arcadia improves to 6-1-1 overall.

After the teams battled to a scoreless first 45 minutes, Wilkes took a 1-0 lead after Katie Hughes (New Tripoli, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) found Ashley Graham (New Hampton, NY/Minisink Valley) on a cross at 58:30. Arcadia answered to tie the game at 1-1 at the 63:19 mark when Lauryn Miller put home an indirect kick from Rachel Dolly.

The game would go into the overtime period where a ball crossed from an Arcadia forward was deflected home off a Wilkes defender as the Knights escaped with the 2-1 win.

Arcadia held a 25-5 shot advantage while garnering five corner kicks to Wilkes one attempt. Wilkes goalie Sam Lindo (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) finished with 12 saves in net, while Knights keeper Jackie Law made one stop to post the win.

Wilkes will return to the pitch Wednesday when the Lady Colonels travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. to face Susquehanna University in a non-conference match scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
