WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER EARNS 1-0 WIN OVER RUTGERS-CAMDEN
HAVERFORD, PA – Danelle Brewer (Milton, PA/Milton) scored the game-winning goal at the 60:11 mark of the second half to propel Wilkes University to a 1-0 victory over Rutgers-Camden in the first round of the Haverford College Kick-Off Classic at Haverford College Saturday afternoon.
With the win Wilkes moves to 1-0 on the young season.
The teams battled to a scoreless tie throughout until Brewer found the back of the net unassisted mid-way through the second frame. Wilkes held a 14-8 advantage in shots as well as a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.
Lady Colonel keeper Sam Lindo (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) finished with five saves earning the shutout. Rutgers-Camden goalie Leighanna Milby posted six saves in the loss.
Wilkes will now play Arcadia University in the championship Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
